Sunway Student Ambassadors (SSA) is a student leadership body led by dedicated scholars from Sunway College (KL) or Sunway University. SSA aims to engage scholars with one another, ignite their potential, and cultivate a culture of giving back.
WHAT IS?
STEP UP is NOT your conventional committee recruitment process.
one day, or day one?
STEP UP is SSA’s one-month mandatory probationary programme for shortlisted participants aspiring to join the Sunway Student Ambassadors (SSA) committee for the 2026/2027 term. Unlike typical recruitment processes, STEP UP offers a one-of-a-kind, intensive experience through a series of specially curated events and challenges.
Over the course of one month, participants will gain hands-on exposure to the inner workings of SSA while developing essential soft skills, leadership qualities, and practical experience. Completion of all stages is mandatory, and participants will be closely evaluated by current committee members to determine their readiness to take on a committee role.

Experience what it's like to be involved in the planning and execution of a campus-wide event, Sunway's Got Talent (SGT). It spans the entire STEP UP probationary period, so you'll network and bond with your teammates along the way.

Sunway's Got Talent Season 8: RE:VELATION
Sunway’s Got Talent (SGT) is an annual talent competition, serving as the flagship event of SSA and awarded the title Best Event of the Year twice in a row by Student LIFE. It celebrates the diverse talents of Sunway students while fostering community engagement through the 5Ts” Time, Talent, Treasure, Tie and Testimonies.
This year, SGT extended its impact beyond campus by supporting our key beneficiaries: Rumah Hope, Rumah Juara, and Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah (PPKKCTM).

Youth Talent Development Programme (YTDP)
The Youth Talent Discovery Programme brought together children from three of our beneficiary homes, Rumah Hope, Rumah Juara, and Taman Megah Children’s Centre, for a journey of exploration beyond the classroom. Guided by Sunway Scholars from three talent tracks:

The children took part in hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and self-expression. Through these experiences, the programme encouraged each child to discover new interests, uncover hidden talents, and build confidence in their own abilities, while creating meaningful connections with the scholars along the way.
Social Leadership Programme (SLP)
The Social Leadership Programme (SLP) is an initiative under the Pals Department of SSA. It is designed to nurture creativity, problem-solving and leadership in children from our beneficiaries by combining fun, hands-on activities with practical life skills.
MYReaders Programme
The MYReaders programme is a home-grown literacy programme where the Pals Department, alongside weekly volunteers, makes weekly visits to beneficiaries to empower underprivileged children to read confidently through guided and structured lessons.
More than just improving reading skills, MYReaders seeks to spark a love for learning, build confidence, and open doors to equal opportunities in the children’s educational journey.
SEED Programme
SEED is a scholar-led community initiative under SSA’s Pals Department that empowers Sunway Scholars to create meaningful impact beyond the classroom. Through programmes such as the Social Leadership Programme (SLP) and MYReaders, scholars engage with children from underprivileged homes through interactive and educational activities designed to build confidence, creativity, communication skills, and literacy. By combining learning with community service, SEED provides scholars with the opportunity to contribute meaningfully while supporting the personal growth and development of the children they work with.
Scholars: Code Red
Scholars: Code Red, this year’s instalment of the annual Buddies Programme event, brought Sunway Scholars together for an evening of excitement, strategy, and collaboration beyond academics. The event featured a series of engaging missions and high-energy challenges that tested participants’ resilience, problem-solving skills, and teamwork as they navigated obstacles and worked closely with their teams to achieve success. These challenges encouraged scholars to think strategically, communicate effectively, and support one another, while creating shared laughter, memorable experiences, and stronger connections within the Sunway Scholar community.
Café 101: Beyond the Matcha Latte
Café 101: Beyond the Matcha Latte was a hands-on beverage innovation workshop organised in collaboration with OYEN COFFEE LAB. Participants explored the art and process behind creating café-quality matcha drinks, from learning the fundamentals to experimenting with innovative flavour combinations of their own. The session blended creativity, curiosity, and practical learning, giving participants the opportunity to gain new skills while enjoying a fun and interactive café experience.
